Oftentimes, people get so wrapped up in choosing a floor plan and designing the interior of their home, that they forget about the exterior until it’s time to start making decisions. There are a number of ways that you can customize your home’s exterior to make it just right for your family’s needs and for your personal style:
Vinyl Siding or Brick?
One of the biggest decisions you’ll make when it comes to your home’s exterior is the material you will use. The two most common materials are vinyl siding and brick.
Brick is the classic choice for home exteriors. It is one of the most, if not the most, durable materials to choose for your home, and it can last up to 100 years! With that said, brick is exponentially more expensive than vinyl siding, costing 2 to 5 times as much. It is also more expensive to install since it requires brick masons and quite a bit of installation time. All in all, if you want a home that will stand the test of time, and you’re willing to pay the upfront costs, then brick is a great choice for you.
Vinyl siding is becoming increasingly popular for homes for a number of reasons. For one, it is much more affordable than brick, both in material costs and installation costs. In addition, it comes in a number of colors and can be customized to fit your home. On average, vinyl siding can last you about 25 years, so only about one-fourth of the lifetime of bricks. So, that’s something to consider when choosing your home’s material.
